Up

The London Open Drumming Group has been meeting since 1997.  The aim is to provide a safe and sacred environment for people to practise core shamanic techniques and have the opportunity to talk about shamanic experiences with others in a relaxing environment.

Within the core shamanic framework art, sculpture, song dance and of course the shamanic journey have been some of the forms the group have used to explore personal creativity, healing and development.  The group has also worked with ceremony and ritual for both personal and community healing.  Whatever form the work takes we are always looking to deepen our relationships with our spirit helpers and teachers and to bring the power and wisdom available in the spirit world to this reality.

Is the group open to anyone?

The group is open to anyone who has attended a basic course in core shamanism with a teacher such as Jonathan Horwitz, Annette Host, Caitlin Mathews, Howard Charing or the Foundation for Shamanic studies, or has done shamanic work (such as shamanic counselling) with someone known to the organisers.  This is so we are not continually teaching the basics of journeying and the geography of the spirit world.  If in doubt please give us a call.

Where and when does the group meet?

We meet on the second Saturday of the month from 12 noon to 6pm.  Please ring the bell on arrival. The group meets at the Wheatsheaf Community Centre on Wheatsheaf Lane, Vauxhall SW8.  The nearest tube is Vauxhall.

What should I bring?

Please bring rattle, scarf, something to sit/lie on, warm comfortable clothes, your journal for writing down the journeys and a packed lunch.  We ask for £5 towards the cost of space and drinks.
